Definition of Abortion
“Abortion means:
i. The interntional termination or attempted terminatoin of human pregnancy after implatatoin of a fertilized ovum through a medical produce a medical prodedure carried out by a physician used uder the direction of a physcian;
ii. The intentional killing or attempted killing of a live unborn child through a medical procedure carried out by a physician or through a substance used under the direction of a physician; or
iii. The intentioal causing or attempted causing of a miscarriage through a medical proecdure carried out by a physician or through a substance used under the directoin of a physician.”

Laws and Regulations
“Informed Consent for Abortion Services
All health centers in Utah can provide "informed consent" to women who are considering terminating her pregnancy. Call the closest health center to schedule a time to speak with a licensed provider and obtain informed consent.
In Utah you must obtain face-to-face informed consent and wait 72 hours before having an abortion. You can obtain face-to-face informed consent anywhere in the state from any licensed provider, including physicians, nurses, and social workers.
If you are a minor considering an abortion, requires that one of your parents give permissin for your abortion, and spearately that one parent is notified of your decision 24 hurs before the abortion takes place. Through the judicial bypass process a judge may excuse you from one in some cases both requirements, depending on your situation.”
Abortion Pill (Medication Abortion)
“Abortion pill (medication abortion) is offered up to 10 weeks and 0 days after the start of your last menstrual period.
You will need to follow up within 1-2 weeks to make sure your abortion is complete and that you are well. In the unlikely event that you are still pregnant, you may need another dose of medication or to have an in-clinic abortion to end the pregnancy.

In-Clinic Abortion
“In-clinic aboriton is offered up to 21 weeks and 6 days after the start of oyur last menstrual period. If your last period was after 21 weeks and 6 days, they may still get some help by receiving a referral list of health care providers around your area that offer other abortion services.
Plan to be at he health center for 4-5 hour(s) of your entire visit for an in-clinic abortion.”
